Sydney Festival

The annual cultural celebration is the big one in Sydney’s summer must-do list, and the festival’s contemporary programming always manages to surprise.

OUR CITY IN SUMMER!

Every January, Sydney Festival enlivens and transforms Sydney with a bold cultural celebration based on the highest quality art and big ideas.

The program is kaleidoscopic in its diversity, from burlesque, cheeky cabaret and Canadian circus, to high energy jazz, indie rock and Russian theatre; from contemporary dance to family programs to traditional Indigenous arts practice. Sydney Festival’s 2017 program presents over 450 performances and 150 events performed by over 1,000 artists at more than 46 venues across theatre, dance, music, circus and art. Inclusive programming, a broad range of free events and accessible pricing policies for the ticketed shows means that Sydney Festival is open to all, welcoming Sydneysiders and visitors from wherever they live.

41st Sydney Festival

January is our favourite month of the year thanks to Sydney Festival. The three-week celebration of summer in the city includes 150 events across theatre, dance, circus, music and arts. This year is festival director Wesley Enoch’s first program and he’s brought with him a renewed focus on new Australian work, a deepening of our connections to country and languages, and lots of accessible public art. In fact, there are 73 free events on the program. Enoch is stretching the reach from the CBD to Parramatta, where there’ll be circus shows rotating in the big top at Prince Alfred Square. Plus, there are 16 world premiere performances and 14 Australian exclusives. Multipack tickets go on sale from October 27, and single tickets are available from October 31.
